Will Rawls '00 dance workshop

As part of a creative residency The Williams College Dance Department presents a work-in-progress showing of The Planet-EatersThe Planet-Eaters is an experiment with the complex rhythmic language of Balkan music, in which dancer Will Rawls and musician Chris Kuklis attempt to reconstruct traditional culture in a contemporary, far-removed context.  The result is comparable to listening to a long-distance radio broadcast in which much of the content of the story gets lost in static.  Kuklis and Rawls use movement, storytelling, digital media and more to interface with the acoustic, analog and pagan technologies of folklore.  If the world of The Planet-Eaters exists somewhere between the U.S.A, the Balkans and a radio wave, then Kuklis and Rawls are experimental citizens of this unstable, triangulated space.
