Kathryn Schwartz is a fifth-year PhD candidate in History and Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard.  She holds a BA in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from King's College, Cambridge University; and her doctoral research is on the shift from manuscript to print production in 19th century Ottoman Cairo.
