The Exterior Algebraic Formulation of Maxwell's Equations

Abstract: Maxwell's equations are a set of four differential equations that form the core of classical electrodynamics, describing the time evolution of and constraints on the electric and magnetic vector fields. Although Maxwell's equations are most commonly expressed in terms of vector calculus operators, it is also possible to formulate them in terms of differential forms in a four dimensional space-time manifold. This talk will investigate this exterior algebraic formulation of Maxwell's equations, discussing general properties of electrodynamics and differential geometry along the way.
