Symmetric Tessellations of Flat ManifoldsProf. Mark Mixer
Mathematics and Statistics Department Faculty Seminar

Abstract: Each convex regular polytope can be viewed as a regular tessellation of a sphere. Using this as our motivation, in this talk we will consider tessellations of other manifolds. In particular we will discuss results from an undergraduate research program considering minimal covers of equivelar toroidal maps. Furthermore, we will investigate symmetries of tessellations of the flat 3-manifolds.
