Abstract: Many measurements we take are recorded on an ordinal scale, such as the answer to the question how happy you are, with categories very, pretty or no too happy. Simply assigning scores, such as 1-2-3 to the categories and treating the response as numerical can lead to wrong results. We introduce appropriate models for ordinal responses in this talk.
