Reading by Africana & English Professor Aminatta Forna

Aminatta Forna was born in Scotland, raised in Sierra Leone and Britain and spent periods of her childhood in Iran, Thailand and Zambia. She is the award-winning author of the novels The Memory of Love and Ancestor Stones, and a memoir The Devil that Danced on the Water. The Hired Man, her latest novel, was published in March 2013. Aminatta is Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University and currently holds the post of Sterling Brown Distinguished Visiting Professor at Williams College, Massachusetts. Her reading is sponsored by both Africana Studies and the English Department.  It will be preceded by a selection of Balkan "Kola" music chosen by Lysander Jaffe '14. Professor Forna's books will be available for sale and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
