Curve Reconstruction: From Triangles to Pixar

Christopher Fogler '13

Mathematics and Statistics Department Colloquium

Curve and surface reconstruction is a fascinating topic in Computational Geometry using triangulation's of points on a plane (and eventually a 3D grid) to reconstruct a given curve.  Computer graphics artists and animators rely on this technology to create their work.  In this talk, we will explore how Delaunay Triangulations, Voronoi Diagrams and algorithms such as CRUST and COCONE to help us understand this exciting subject.
